Coppabella Wind Farm invites interested members of the local community to nominate to become a member of the Community Consultative Committee (CCC) for the wind farm project. Sunny Rutherford, Community Engagement Manager for the project, said local community members that have an interest in the project may wish to apply to be part of the CCC.
‘The purpose of the Community Consultative Committee is to provide a forum for open discussion between representatives of the community, local councils, Coppabella Wind Farm, and other stakeholders within the local community. We are looking for a mix of people who live locally to be part of the CCC.’
‘In line with NSW Department of Planning and Environment CCC Guidelines, Nic Carmody, Independent Chairperson for the Coppabella Wind Farm CCC, will manage the appointment of members. Please be in touch with him directly if you would like to find out further information.’ Said Sunny.
Tom Nielsen, Development Manager for the project, said Coppabella Wind Farm will have a strong focus on engaging with the direct local community for the project.
‘One of the ways we are aiming to contribute to the local community is through support and sponsorship of community initiatives and events. Last year we had the opportunity to sponsor several local community events such as Binalong Bush Poetry Prize, the Murrumburrah Harden Show and Sergeant Parry Memorial Day in Jugiong. I would like to invite interested local community groups to be in touch if they would like to discuss areas where we could provide financial support.’ Said Tom.
Coppabella Wind Farm is located in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, approximately 30km west of Yass. Previously called ‘Yass Valley Wind Farm’, the project has recently been renamed Coppabella Wind Farm to reflect the change in the original project scope and to better represent the geographic area for the project.
